Nondual Meditation

“Nondual awakening is not something other than our humanness. It is the fruition of our humanness.”

Judith Blackstone, Realization Process founder

The Realization Process is a series of practices for opening the body, heart and mind to nondual reality. In this approach, the radical openness of nondual awakening is found through inward contact with the internal space of your body. In this way, you uncover a quality-rich, authentic experience of yourself as an individual at the same time as you transcend your individuality. You uncover the ground of your being as the luminous transparency of fundamental consciousness, pervading your body and environment as a unity.

The Realization Process practices attune directly to the pervasive spaciousness of fundamental consciousness and to the subtle channel that runs through the vertical core of the body.  They prepare you to let go of your habitual grip on yourself throughout your whole body and being, so that fundamental consciousness can spontaneously emerge.

The practices also open the chakras, cultivate internal depth, bliss, and clarity, and refine the breath and the senses so that you can see, hear and touch on a more subtle level. They deepen and stabilize nondual realization for both beginning and advanced practitioners.

Most methods of nondual awakening work mainly with the mind. They are concerned with recognizing and cutting through the process of mental elaboration that may limit or distort your perception of the present moment. Students of these methods are usually instructed to train their attention on whatever is happening in each moment. But the nondual ground of being is more subtle than simple attention to phenomena. It pervades phenomena, suffusing all of your experience with radiant transparency.

The fixations that obscure nonduality are not just conceptual. They are also rigid holding patterns throughout the whole body, limiting our capacity for emotional responsiveness and physical sensation. If we just attempt to “relax” into the moment, we will usually just let go of the surface of ourselves. But by embodying fundamental consciousness, you can let go of your fixed patterns of self and other, so that they actually dissolve. This provides an enduring transformation of your whole body and the realization of your whole being as fundamental consciousness. This realization persists, even during reflexive thinking, intense emotion and while relating with other people.

It is not just that we know nondual reality. We are nondual reality.

Shifting from the fragmentation of subject-object duality to the unity of our essential being seems radical, but it’s possible. These gentle, precise, Realization Process practices help us realize our own nature as vast, clear, unchanging, unbounded space.
